1. About These Terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Storybook / Storieboek (“the Service”), operated by Hatsu Studios. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms in full. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.

2. Who We Are

The Service is operated by Hatsu Studios, a registered business in South Africa. For all legal and data protection queries, contact us at hatsustudiosza@gmail.com. Please mark data protection queries clearly as DATA PROTECTION QUERY in the subject line.

3. Age Requirements

You must be 13 years of age or older to create an account. We do not knowingly allow children under 13 to register or use the Service. If we become aware that a user is under 13, we will immediately suspend the account and delete all associated personal information.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has created an account, contact us immediately at hatsustudiosza@gmail.com with subject line DATA PROTECTION QUERY — MINOR ACCOUNT.

Users aged 13 to 17 may use the Service with age-appropriate content restrictions applied automatically.

4. Your Account

When you create an account, you must provide accurate and truthful information including your real date of birth. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for all activity under your account.

5. The Service

Storybook is an AI-powered personalised story generation platform available in English and Afrikaans. You can create stories, generate images, and build a personal story library.

6. Credits and Payments

Credits are the in-app currency used to access story generation and image features. Credits are spent as follows:

• Story generation: 1 credit per 10 minutes of reading content
• Image generation: 1 credit per image
• Chapter illustration: 2 credits per comic strip
• Interactive stories: 5× standard story credit cost

Payments are processed securely by PayFast. We do not store card details. Credits are non-refundable except in the case of a confirmed technical failure. Monthly subscription credits do not roll over. Top-up credits do not expire.

7. Content You Create

Your creative inputs (themes, characters, plot directions) remain yours. You grant Hatsu Studios a licence to process your inputs to generate stories, and to use anonymised and aggregated versions of your inputs to improve AI quality. We will never use your content in identifiable form for any commercial purpose beyond providing the Service to you.

8. Content Restrictions

You must not use the Service to generate content that is unlawful, harmful, harassing, involves minors in sexual content, promotes violence or hatred, or infringes any third-party rights. We reserve the right to remove violating content without notice.

9. Availability and Changes

We aim to keep the Service available at all times but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. We may change or update features. We will notify you of material changes to these Terms by email or in-app notification.

10. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided “as is”. To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, Hatsu Studios is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of South African courts.
